UK Firm makes buildings out of plastic bottles for the NAAFI.

The Iconic British institution, the ROYAL NAAFI, has today announced its partnership with UK manufacturer iForm Clever Buildings.

This hugely exciting new initiative sees the ROYAL NAAFI (The Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes) launch sustainable modular buildings for military application as part of their product lineup in a bid to support a new sustainable future and improve the current infrastructure and living conditions of our troops world wide.

Working together with iForm, a variety of innovative structures have been designed to provide the Military with new sustainable infrastructure solutions. From accommodation blocks to classrooms, cold rooms, ablution blocks, trail-able structures and their signature cafes, each type of building uses around 26,000 recycled plastic bottles and can be powered completely off-grid.

Fusing innovation with a proven track record, the buildings are the most sustainable of their kind - using 98% recycled plastic bottles in a composite panel that has an expected lifespan of 200+ years. Super tough and hard wearing in all conditions, they thrive in harsh climates without the need for concrete footings - so are ideally suited to a wide range of International environments. The buildings modular construction allows them to be fully portable and delivered ready for immediate use. Their lightweight design comes in half the weight of an equivalent size shipping container without negating strength & longevity.

iForm Managing Director, Emma MacRae said ‘We are so proud to partner with such a well-respected institution like the ROYAL NAAFI to deliver a sustainable solution not seen before within the Military.

Their International effort is exceptional - bringing a slice of home to troops deployed in some of the toughest locations in the World, and we hope the buildings will add to that comfort. With over 35 years of producing our unique builds, we are confident we can deliver buildings worthy of the NAAFI brand and look forward to an exciting future alongside them’.

NAAFI quote —————

The NAAFI has been a valued service since 1920, established by the British Government, combining the Expeditionary Force Canteens, the Navy, and Army Canteen Board to run the recreational establishments needed by the Armed Forces, to sell goods to servicemen and their families. From retail to recreation, they provide vital services to Ministry of Defence locations to support UK Forces communities around the world.

With iForms extensive experience since their inception in 1986, paired with their award-winning products, they have become the forefront manufacturer of composite buildings and the choice of industry leaders. You will recognise their structures across the UK including 250 RNLI lifeguard stations on beaches nationwide that thrive in tough beach front conditions.

This partnership encapsulates long standing traditions of delivering a quality service with a quality product, in a bid to create a long-term partnership to promote the use of sustainable structures within the UK and International Military Forces.

My background & education are in Web/Graphic Design with a particular focus on Brand Identity Design. I have further developed these skills over the years as a freelance graphic designer, working closely with a number of SMEs in London.

I am a freelance Web & Graphic Designer based in London, specialising in luxury and high end brand identity, plus engaging, front end Web Design.

I feel the web has become the ideal place to showcase a modern brand, and so brand identity is best shown off by means of a website. Having the ability to work through the entire process from brand strategy to launching the website itself provides control over planning and execution of the brand vision. In my opinion this is a very useful combination of skillsets.

I enjoy working on projects at a scale that enables me to get involved from strategy right through to execution, although I'm also happy to collaborate on larger projects from time to time. In a nutshell; my goal is to provide businesses with the tools they need to attract their ideal customers.

I'm always searching for ways to utilise my past experience, and open to new challenges.
